My Analysis

What makes Perplexity interesting from a product lens:

  • Follow-up questions β€” the suggested follow-ups create a research workflow, not just a single query. It turns search into exploration.

The risk: they're competing with Google's distribution advantage using a fundamentally better product. History says distribution usually wins, but the product gap here is unusually large.
